“If I’d have known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself” Eubie Blake on his 100th birthday. I love that quote because it checks our thinking. Most people argue he made it to 100 so he doesn’t need to worry. He says if he could have been healthier along the way he would have had more enjoyment from life now and leading up to now.
In this blog I’m going to talk about what you can do to live longer. I’ll talk about diet, supplements, exercise, care of your structure and lots of other stuff.
Lots of times people tell me they don’t want to live to be old. They say that because they think that means being sick or dysfunctional in many areas of life, and I don’t blame them for not wanting that, but what about having more healthy active and vital years? The term being used at the moment is “the compression of morbidity”. Lets say you live to be 90. Do you want to begin your decline at 35 or 89? I cant imagine why you’d want to begin falling apart early, yet that’s exactly what many people plan to do. They say things like I’m here for a good time not a long time, like these two things are mutually exclusive. How about being here for a long time and a good time, is that possible? YES!!!
There are lots of ways to achieve this, each one adding to the next and creating synergy, so, for reading my blog I’m going to give you the number one rule to living long and healthy, are you ready? Systematic under-eating and periodic fasting. Eat less and live longer. I’ll talk more about why later There is another thing you can do that achieves almost as good results as eating until you are only 80% full, but I’ll discuss that next time too.
